Report developers compile massive amounts of data on an enterprise level to filter out unnecessary information and provide insight into business operations.
A report developer will formulate a strategy with departments to develop objectives and metrics needed. After doing that, they’ll create department-specific reports that help to improve workflow and efficiency, while removing the non-relevant data. By tailoring data reports, developers can help convey important trends previously unseen by departments.
Those capable with SQL and Postgres tend to be well suited for this position, along with excellent soft skills like communication to reach consensus with colleagues more quickly. Generally, those with an IT background, and especially data-driven positions, distinguish themselves as candidates. While a degree isn’t mandatory, it further increases a candidate’s employment prospects.
Duties & Responsibilities
We are a young South American nearshore software development boutique focused on the Global Market. Our initial specialization was on Database Services & Enterprise Report Management and Game Development. Over time, we expanded our services offering into on demand Software Development & Enterprise Application, also providing Staff Augmentation and Digital Marketing Services.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Developing and implementing software tasks in accordance with our standards and methodologies.
- Document and resolve report and data requests via Jira and Help Desk tickets.
- Provide solutions in areas where policy and procedure are insufficient.
- Participate heavily in knowledge-sharing and department meetings and document in Confluence.
- Provide technical mentoring to peers as necessary.
- Design and develop database reports with tools like Jasper.
- Develop and maintain ETL and Reports with minimal supervision.
- Collaborate with data architects, team members, project managers, and owners.
- Following the collection and validation of requirements, develop SQL scripts and generate reports to deliver requested data to clients.
- Oversee the maintenance and scheduling of more than 100 reports, including the management of a Git repository for backup.
- Administer user access to reporting repositories.
- Collaborate with the DBA team to articulate new business requirements and enhancements to the database structure and operations.
- Monitor and notify of data breaches.
- Complete projects in a timely and efficient manner.
- Collaborate with departments, management, and peers to encourage and foster a highly cooperative environment.
- 3 years of Database and Report writing experience (e.g. Jasper)
- 3 years of ETL & Data Warehouse experience
- 3 years of relational database experience
- 3 years of technical documentation
- 3 years SQL optimization skills
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience will be valued
- English working knowledge: verbal and written communication is mandatory
- Excellent teamwork skills, strong analytical skills, and attention to detail
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Desire to stay current with technology and a willingness to learn
- General understanding of hardware
- Working knowledge of Windows and Linux
- Excellent technical documentation skills
- Experience using Jira and Confluence is preferred
