Payment Operations Specialist

Job Overview

At AstroPay, we're looking for a hands-on, technically driven professional to take ownership of our payment operations and drive continuous improvements across our payment methods, virtual accounts and banking integrations.

You'll investigate complex transaction issues, optimize payment flows, improve conversion rates and manage operational challenges. You'll also lead initiatives from problem identification through implementation, build and maintain strong relationships with payment providers and banking partners, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Product, Fraud and Finance.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Own and optimize payment operations across deposits, withdrawals, transfers, virtual accounts and local payment methods.
• Investigate transaction declines, processing failures and integration issues, identifying root causes through SQL queries, API analysis, logs and monitoring tools.
• Lead operational projects end to end, coordinating teams, managing dependencies, removing blockers and ensuring execution.
• Monitor and improve payment conversion rates, processing times, transaction reliability and provider performance.
• Manage payment providers and partners, including incident resolution, escalations and operational improvements.
• Work with Product and Engineering on integrations, provider migrations and payment flow improvements.
• Leverage AI development tools to navigate codebases, contribute code changes and implement automations.
  
  

Experience & Qualifications

• Strong experience in payment operations, fintech, banking or payment processing.
• Solid understanding of payment flows, transaction processing, virtual accounts and payment providers.
• Experience with APIs, logs and monitoring tools.
• Technical aptitude and familiarity with Git and AI-assisted development tools.
• Proven ability to independently lead initiatives, coordinate stakeholders and drive execution.
• Strong analytical skills, ownership mindset and proactive problem-solving approach.
• Excellent written and spoken English and Spanish (mandatory).
  
  

Nice to Have: Knowledge of LATAM payment methods, virtual account infrastructure and experience with provider integrations or new product launches.
